FCC filing from Snap reveals second

If at first you don't succeed...well, ask Snap.

Late on Tuesday, Varietyspotted a filing to the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) from Snapchat's parent company, Snap Inc. The application is for a "wearable video camera," or what is presumably a new version of Snapchat's largely unsuccessful Spectacles.

The filing is accompanied by an "002" label, indicating that we are likely looking at the second version of Snap's Spectacles, rather than an update to existing models or a brand new product.

According to the label, the new glasses will be packaged with a charging case and charging cable. They'll also support 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2 (BLE). That's about all there is in the filing: There aren't any photos or detailed descriptions of the hardware.

This filing isn't a surprise, either. Cheddar reported earlier this month that Snap planned on releasing two new versions of Spectacles this fall, one with additional colors, and one with two cameras and built-in GPS.

Snap did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
