We knew Beyoncé and Jay-Z had named their twins Sir and Rumi—when they trademarked the names.
And now, we know why they chose them. In an interview on the Rap Radar podcast Friday, as highlighted by Vulture, Jay-Z finally revealed the reasons behind the choice.
“Rumi is our favorite poet, so it was for our daughter,” Jay-Z said. That would be in honor of Rumi, the 13th-century Persian poet.
“Sir was like, man, come out the gate. He carries himself like that,” Jay-Z said. “He just came out, like, 'Sir.'”
