Facebook is rolling out a brand new sharing feature just in time for the holidays.
In a blog post on Tuesday, Facebook announced a brand new feature that allows users to share collections with family and friends. Not only are they now shareable, but anyone who share them with can also add to the collection.
Collections are a bit reminiscent of Twitter Moments or even social bookmarking tools of the earlier internet like Delicious. For example, users can save links or images from their favorite home decor Facebook pages and curate them into a collection of furniture they’d like for a room they’re redecorating.
Facebook’s post runs through a few possible uses for the holiday season, such as building out a holiday shopping list and sharing it with family or putting together a list of recipes that friends can add to for a holiday party. The company also suggests some collections use cases for the new year like planning a summer vacation or setting up a wedding registry.
Millions are using the collections feature already, according to Facebook. For those unfamiliar however, let’s explain. Facebook has been allowing users to archive posts, links, and videos using a save for later featuresince 2014. Last year, they updatedthe feature and rolled out collections, which allows users to curate these saved items onto lists.
Now, with this latest update, it’s a collaborative tool too.
