Man buys woman a drink, texts her awkward request weeks later-

LONDON -- Whenever you swap numbers with a stranger, there's always the chance you might get a message that's a bit... well, unexpected.

This is Abby Fenton, a university student from Barnsley, UK.

Fenton recently went on a night out with some friends to a club called the Viper Rooms. During the night, she met -- and swapped numbers with -- someone called Liam.

"He came up to me and he seemed okay," Fenton told the Lad Bible. "Then he offered to buy me a drink so I accepted then walked off to join my friends."

An unspecified amount of time later, Fenton received the following message:

Fenton's tweet, which she shared last Thursday evening, has wracked up over 15,000 retweets at the time of writing.

The vast majority of replies were from outraged people who couldn't believe he'd asked for the money back.

Others, meanwhile, were surprised that Fenton had actually transferred it to him.

A couple of hours after her original tweet, Fenton decided to hold a Twitter poll.

Despite the majority of people seeming to think she shouldn't have paid him back, though, Fenton is still keeping a sense of humour about the whole thing.

Fenton's not alone, either. Last September someone shared a post-date message exchange that ended with the man asking for the money back for a drink he'd paid for, and last November British dating blogger Lauren Crouch tweeted about a date who demanded she pay him back his £3.50 ($4.64) after he bought her coffee.
