Overheating and interference reportedly causing Apple AirPower delays

Apple unveiled its concept for AirPower at a 2017 product event. AirPower was to be a charging mat that powered your iPhone, AirPods, and Apple Watch all at once. According to Apple pundits John Gruber (of Daring Fireball) and Sonny Dickson, both software and hardware on AirPower have caused trouble. The multiple coil design is causing devices to overheat. There is also interference amongst the mat and the devices.

Mashable has reached out to Apple to learn whether AirPower really is dead in the water. But considering how tight-lipped the company has been on the AirPower project over the last year, we're not holding our breath.
