It's 2017 and trolling by way of Nickelback still shows no sign of slowing down.

Republican Sen. Ben Sasse of Nebraska announced on Twitter Friday that he was the victim of some pretty hilarious internet trolling. Someone found a few of his email addresses, and signed him up for a bunch of promotion and fan newsletters about the most hated band on the internet, Nickelback.

"It's. Not. Funny," Sasse wrote.

Except it is funny, Ben. It is very, very funny.

Some noted that this was, unsurprisingly, not the first time someone did this.

Regardless of your political view of Sasse, he deserves this. Sasse has made cracking jokes about Nickelback his own personal brand. He tweets about Nickelback so much, we're beginning to think he's actually a big fan.

Sasse even tried to scare people into buying his book by threatening the internet with Nickelback lyrics.

Not sorry, Sasse, but you asked for this. Also, stop pimping out your book like this. It's gross.
