Grindr adds grunt notification for US Open-

The US Open is underway and everyone is living their Challengersdream (watching tennis and yelling "Come on!").

Dating app Grindr is getting in on the action, offering a new "grunt" notification that goes off when users tap on a potential match.

"From short shorts, to fuzzy balls flying in faces, the sport has been a space the gay community loves to play in, yet they haven't had the chance to play out publicly," Grindr said in an email to Mashable, referring to former professional player Brian Vahaly, who only came out after retiring from tennis. "That's changing and culture's catching on with recent phenomenons like the premiere of Challengers."

"The grunt noise is a humorous celebration of the often sexually charged sport," Grindr continued.

The notification is literally a male grunt, much different than the trilling sound Grindr users are used to. Users on Reddit don't seem very enthusiastic about the change, with several threads on the r/grindr subreddit stating they disabled the sound, called it nonsense, and said they plain hate it.
