It's a trend which has been going on for many years now, and which was further popularised recently by designer James Fridman (who has essentially made Photoshop-based trolling an art form).

On Monday, YouTuber Mark Fischbach (a.k.a. markiplier) got a taste of the phenomena first-hand.

Now it's worth noting at this point that Fischbach probably knew exactly what he was doing with this request. Obviously it's possible that he genuinely wanted a picture of himself holding up a mountain, but the reality is he probably just wanted it to go viral.

Well, if it was the latter, he certainly got his wish. And no matter what the motive was, the results made it all worthwhile...

To be fair, this last one is pretty good.

Photoshop is truly a beautiful thing.
