Chrissy Teigen gets a hamster, takes all of Twitter along for the ride

Chrissy Teigen just got a hamster, and like any new pet owner, she has a lot of questions about her furry companion.

Like if it's normal for the little critter to furiously gnaw at her cage? And the age old question of to touch or not to touch?

Teigen started her hamster thread by introducing the little buddy as Peanut Butter, adding that her husband, John Legend, was not as thrilled about the new addition to the family.

Teigen then went on to relay the conversation she had with the pet salesperson, and it's pretty entertaining.

Like this glorious exchange about rice.

And this slightly confusing piece of petting advice that most people would probably be reluctant to follow.

Looks like Peanut Butter will not be getting a hamster companion anytime soon.

Teigen then lost sight of Peanut Butter for a while...

... before finding the little friend gnawing furiously at her cage.

Isthat normal? The people of Twitter weighed in.

Having established that such behaviour is, in fact, normal, Teigen wanted to assure her followers that Peanut Butter was very well taken care of.

The only other issue was Peanut Butter apparently had some trouble figuring out how to use the hamster drinking device.

"I keep showing her and I am starting to feel dumb," Teigen wrote.

Wait, how exactly are you "showing her," Chrissy?

UPDATE: March 11, 2019, 2:23 p.m. EDT Teigen briefly lost the hamster, but thankfully found it a few hours later.

But at least it's living the high life.

The RSPCA's rabbit and rodent welfare expert, Jane Tyson, told Mashable that hamsters should have plenty of cage space, continuous access to drinking water and a well balanced diet. Tyson advised owners to consult a vet if they are concerned about their hamster's behaviour.

Let's hope Teigen continues to chronicle the life of Peanut Butter Teigen-Legend. We're all invested in the her now.
